Scott Black is a native of Southern Nevada.  He was born in Henderson and spent the majority of his childhood in North Las Vegas, attending Lincoln Elementary, Jim Bridger Junior High and Rancho High School.

As a youth, Scott was involved in sports, Boy Scouts and Student Government, serving as Senior Class President.  One of his cherished experiences as a teen was a school trip to Washington DC.  Scott developed a love of country and democracy as well as an appreciation and respect for the delicate balance of government.

After high school Scott attended college for 1 year and then accepted a call to serve his church as a missionary in Oakland California for 2 years. Upon his return he resumed his schooling at UNLV, graduating with a BA degree in Communication Studies with an emphasis on public relations and advertising.  He continued his studies earning an MBA degree from University of Phoenix.

While attending UNLV Scott began dating Leana Harper, also a native of North Las Vegas and a Rancho HS graduate.  The two have been married for 23 years and are the very proud parents of 1 child, their daughter Kallie who is a senior at Shadow Ridge HS.

Scott had a successful career in the making with United Parcel Service.  During his 12 years with UPS he held many roles, in operations management, HR and sales.  He spent his last 4 years with UPS as an account Executive working with “high revenue” accounts in the Las Vegas Valley.  In 2003 Scott decided to leave his successful career at UPS to start his own small business in North Las Vegas, which he still runs today with his wife Leana.

Scott is known in the community as a great neighbor who is always willing to help out as well as a networker (the go to guy), collaborator and problem solver.  He is very committed to service in the community and has served for 20 years in various roles as a Boy Scout leader.  He is also very active in serving as a youth leader for his church.

Scott really cares for North Las Vegas and its residents.  He is proud to call North Las Vegas his hometown.  He reflects fondly on the good and happy life offered to him as he grew up here. He is also aware of the hardships that this great city and its residents (himself included) have faced in recent years.  Most importantly, Scott Black sees the great potential that lies ahead for the City of North Las Vegas and he has the passion, commitment, skills and experience to be a part of the team that moves North Las Vegas into a prosperous future for all of its citizens.
